Here are a few of the problems that people usually suffer from while traveling and how to tackle them with the help of homoeopathic medicines.

Motion Sickness
Motion sickness is a very common problem that may affect any individual, but is mainly common in those people who suffer from migraine. Patients suffering from this illness may usually complain of giddiness and lots of sweating along with nausea and vomiting. Heaviness of the head may also be present.

Homoeopathic Remedies for Motion Sickness
Here are Homoeopathic medicines that can be taken to relieve the complaint of motion sickness. The following medicines may be used as a preventive by administration before the journey.

Cocculus: It is indicated in persons who complain of nausea, giddiness and fainting, especially while travelling by road or by air. It should be taken in its 200 c potency four hourly during the journey.

Nux Vomica: It is best for patients who complain of Nausea and vomiting while travelling, due to persistent indigestion. It is to be taken in its 200 potency, every two hours till be patient fells comfortable.

Petroleum: Petroleum is another remedy used for relief from traveling sickness. It can be used in 30 potency.

Tabacum: Tabacum is also a remedy for traveling sickness, especially sea sickness.


  • Susceptible persons should avoid taking excess food before starting on a journey.
  • They should sit in the direction in which the car or the train is moving.
  • Sitting with adequate ventilation is a must.
  • Patients should avoid unnecessary tension or anxiety before going on a journey.
  • If there is vomiting, the patient should have sufficient water.

Traveller’s Diarrhoea
Diarrhoea is the another most common health problem while travelling. Virtually all cases of diarrhoea are caused either due to change of water and due to faulty eating. It is most frequently a manifestation of food poisoning, the result of consuming food or drink contaminated with bacteria or other toxic products. Foods sold by vendors stored in unhygienic places are a common source of bacteria. Raw unwashed vegetables, raw meats and raw sea foods are also responsible for this problem.

Once the bacteria enters the body, it takes about twelve hours to show its signs.

There may be a low grade fever, abdominal cramps, nausea, and vomiting. In many cases, the symptoms subside within three to five days, but in series infections, the quantity and frequency of stools may increase causing dehydration. In such condition always seek professional advice.


One should avoid ingestion of contaminated food and water. Bed-rest is important. Drink plenty of fluids in the form of boiled water, coconut water, or juices. When required oral rehydration therapy should be given. In a glassful of water, add one teaspoon of sugar and a pinch of salt sip it at regular intervals. Frequent sips of grape or pineapple juice diluted with boiled water can also be given as a rehydration therapy.

Once the patient is better other foods such as overripe bananas, apples, rice and curd may be introduced,.

Arsenic Album: This is one of the most excellent remedies for diarrhoea. It should be given in 30 potency, hourly till the symptoms subside.
