Asthmatics
  • Drink a lot of water.
  • Eat lots of salads and green leafy vegetables.
  • Drink soups, especially chicken soup is very good for asthmatics.
  • Take a light meal at night for dinner, may be a little salad and soup.
  • Take an early dinner, much before your sleeping time.
  • Eat lots of fruits.
  • void fried food.
  • Avoid milk and milk products as they lead to excess secretion from the mucous membranes.
  • Avoid Chinese food, artificially flavoured jellies, pastries and chocolates.
  • Stay away from bananas and radishes.
  • Taking a spoon of honey mixed in a warm cup of water before sleeping will prove helpful and reduce the frequency of attacks during the night.
  • Drink a glass of hot lime water in the morning when you wake up.
Eating Moderately
Too much or too little snacking in between meal times, eating to socialise etc. are bad. Some people avoid fats but end up consuming a lot of carbohydrate and protein-rich food, ignorant of the fact that excess intake of both results in their conversion to fat. Others eat away beyond their body requirement to combat depression, lethargy or boredom.

Few eat only when they are hungry, and then moderately. Know the amount of food you have to eat. Your daily calorific intake should depend on your height, weight and life-style.

One must not overeat or skip a meal, because both practices result in overloading of metabolic pathways. Small meals are excellent.

Coating the food with egg, flour or bread crumbs before frying will preserve the fat soluble micronutrients which are often lost during deep or shallow frying.
